Our Story

Over 35 years ago, a compassionate individual founded what is now known as My Bali Kids Orphanage. Guided by a vision to support Bali’s most vulnerable children, the orphanage became a safe haven, providing shelter, nourishment, and the chance to grow. Over time, however, financial struggles and growing needs made it increasingly challenging to sustain the orphanage’s mission.

In 2017, Renee and Patrick were introduced to My Bali Kids Orphanage and were moved by its dedication to helping underprivileged children in Bali. They felt called to step in and support the mission, applying their expertise to stabilize the orphanage’s finances and create a sustainable foundation for growth. With Renee’s background in finance and Patrick’s knowledge of business operations, they worked tirelessly to ease the financial burdens and support the orphanage’s first expansion in over a decade.

Renee and Patrick’s journey to Bali began long before they connected with My Bali Kids. They met in Atlanta in 1996, shortly after Patrick left his role as an Air Force pilot. At the time, Renee was working as a loan officer, and their shared interests led them to open a mortgage company together in 1997. Married in September of 2002, they honeymooned in Bali—a place they immediately fell in love with. Having been born in Jakarta to missionary parents, Renee had always felt a strong connection to Indonesia. Their two-week honeymoon marked the beginning of a deep bond with Bali, leading to numerous visits over the years and the purchase of two villas in Kerobokan, where they developed close, lasting friendships with the community.

This connection to Bali made it natural for them to embrace the opportunity to support My Bali Kids Orphanage. Today, they are committed to the orphanage’s growth and sustainability, providing not only financial support but also mentorship and resources to empower the children at My Bali Kids to lead fulfilling lives.

Renee and Patrick’s story is a testament to the power of compassion and dedication, ensuring that My Bali Kids Orphanage remains a beacon of hope for generations to come. Their work reflects a deep belief that every child deserves the opportunity to overcome adversity and reach their full potential.
